bucket hat

The first item of the summer collection I sewed in what could count as a honeymoon with my new machine was the bucket hat. I was itching to sew something from 'Little Things to Sew', my introduction to a pattern by the talented Liesl Gibson. I could hardly be more impressed: the instructions are clear, the drawings to the point and the end product adorable. Indeed, I was so happy with the tone of the book and the style of its creations that I ordered two Oliver and S patterns (the School Days Coat and the Sunday Brunch Jacket) today. Given that quite honestly I already have a few jacket patterns, I can only justify this purchase by my curiosity to try out a 'real' Oliver + S garment. Oh my, I'm afraid after fabric hoarding, patterns are now next in line.

Since the hat is for a little man I added ties like Laura did. And for the hat to be still reversible and to match either the grey or the bird playsuit I simply put buttonholes next to the ties. Very easy. Eyelets would work great as well.
