Runaway
Not all of my running attire has pockets, so I looked for an arm pouch. Apart from being rather expensive for that tiny bit of material they were also quite ugly. As I returned home and got off my bike I accidentally got stuck in my cogset and that was the end of my radiant red tights. However this little all-too-familiar mishap provided me with material inspiration for a little tights arm pouch. That's how it's done:

Materials:
- old pair of stockings/tights
- 2 little rectangles of fabric (for my iPod I need ca. 6x4 inches)
- elastic

How-to:
- Measure your portable media player, cut two rectangles that are twice the size of your player and add an inch seam allowance on all sides
- Pin the two fabrics together, right sides facing
- Sew them together on the edge of the side that will be your opening

- Turn over so that the wrong sides are facing, iron
- Sew a line under the stitch you just made, wide enough from the edge for the elastic + safety pin to pass through
- Insert elastic with a safety pin, be sure not to pull it to tight, try whether your player still fits

- Turn again around, right sides facing, and sew remaining sides (not the one with the elastic) together, you’ll sew the elastic in place while sewing the sides
- Turn around, first step done!

- Now all you have to do is cut you tights/stockings, I choose about 4 inch in width, you might need more or less. Depending on you arm muscles (I have visibly none) you might want to use either a thigh or a calf stripe of the stockings.
- Now sew the pocket onto the tights stripe. you can use your sewing machine for the end-side, but you’ll probably have to hand-sew the right and left sides, as well as the upper edge.

And voila, you're done. Mine just passed its first test-run with flying colours...

love this concept.... I've got a droid incredible and NONE of the arm bands I've seen fit the thing right.. I think I may just give up being able to operate the touch screen and make one like this! Thanks!
Great idea. How well did it stay on your arm while you were running? My store-bought one for iPod touch is way too big and slides down. I really don't think my arms are that small.
I've been thinking about making one of these. Interesting materials to use! I may have to try this.
